Site Safety And Health Representative (MSSS)

The MSSS training program meets the requirements of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 (Act Section 56 and 93 (1)) for Supervisors and Site Safety and Health Representatives. (formerly S1, S2, S3)

This training has been developed to meet the requirements of Surface, Underground and Civil sites.


How does it work?

On successful completion of the competencies the participant will be issued a Statement of Attainment and a Site Smart Card as proof of completion.


Duration and delivery

This course takes 36 hours (3 days) to complete. The training has been designed to be conducted on-site however the theory components can be delivered online or in a classroom environment. Practical assessment must take place on site.

  • RIIWHS301D Conduct safety and health investigations
  • RIIRIS301D Apply risk management processes

Job opportunities

This program gives the participant the opportunity to supervise, manage and implement health and safety programs for the surface mining and construction industries.


Requirements

To effectively conduct the Site Smart program our Trainer and Assessor(s) will need a fully equipped training room and access to the site and equipment. The students will also need access to site procedures such as SOPs or SWPs, isolation tags, equipment to isolate and risk assessment books (HIT/Real Time Hazard Analysis and JSEA booklets) and reports for both risk assessment and incident reporting.
