Interesting Fact: The RIIWHS601E Unit of competency is sometimes referred to as the “G7 Course”. The term G7 is a legacy term used by old-school coal miners who remember the original unit of competency MNC.G7.A – Implement and apply health and hygiene management measures.
The MNC.G7.A was an MNC98 Black Coal unit of Competency used between 1988-2004. The MNC04 Coal Training Package superseded the Black Coal competencies in 2004 and the >G7 unit was updated to become “MNCG1007A Implement and monitor health and hygiene management systems.
The release of the RII09 Resources and Infrastructure in 2009 ended the MNC04 Coal training package and the MNCG1007A unit underwent significant updates to become; RIIOHS601A Establish and maintain the OHS management system. A minor update to the RII training package in 2013 saw this unit amended to RIIWHS601A Establish and maintain the WHS management system.
