Founded in 1981, Performance training has been privileged to work alongside many of the worlds most esteemed mining organisations. During our proud 43 plus history, we have delivered more than 6000 projects allowing us to refine and master the art of blending learning theory with practical application. Our pragmatic solutions are designed to align workforce training initiatives with organisational objectives.

Our ability to embed client values into our courses, enables us to fuel and drive desired workforce behaviours. Brief History

1979

The need

As a maintenance training officer at one of Australia’s biggest mines, Barry Coventon recognised the need for practical and engaging training for industry workers.

1981

The beginning

Barry and his wife Sue started Performance Training from their backyard shed in Redcliffe.

1989

First Office

Performance Training moves to a commercial office in Redcliffe.

1990

Graphics team

Performance Training adopted computer aided drawing, and employed a full time cartoonist to enhance the training material and effectivness.

1997

Qld Induction

Performance Training develops the first Queensland Generic Induction for the Queensland mining industry, selling more than 500,000 books over the next 10 years.

1998

RTO Status

Performance Training is one of the first Australian companies to become a registered RTO with registration number 1718.

2003

Take 5

Performance Training develops the first generic Take 5 risk assessment book for industry.

2004

End of an era

Barry Coventon's plane crashed into the sea on his way back from Cobar.

2006

Bryce Coventon

Bryce Coventon becomes the new CEO, carving out a new direction for the company.

2009

Pertrain Pty Limited

In 2009 Performance Training created Pertrain Pty Limited with the focus on content development, allowing Performance Training to focus on RTO activities.

2020

Solomon Island first

Performance Training set up the First Females to graduate from a nationally accredited course in the Solomon Island.
