Bryce Coventon
With an extensive portfolio of formal qualifications, Bryce is a strong advocate for continuous professional development. Over the course of 25+ years in Vocational Education, he has partnered with many of the world’s most forward-thinking companies, successfully delivering over 250 projects.
Renowned for his expertise, Bryce is highly respected for designing and developing practical training solutions that align seamlessly with workplace objectives, driving both employee performance and organisational success.
Qualifications: Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Science (BSc.), Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (Dip.HS), Duel Diploma in Training and Assessment (Duel Dip. TAE) and many nationally accredited qualifications from the RII, BSB, HLT and UEP training packages.
Sue Coventon
Sue started Performance Training in 1981 with her late Husband Barry Coventon. For 23 years Sue and Barry worked every day together, forging an award winning and industry leading company that’s success was built on the simple understanding that your work represents your values, who you are and where you are going. To this end every project is another step in furthering Performance Training’s reputation as a trusted provider of workforce training and accreditation solutions.
Today the organisation still follows Sue and Barry’s philosophy of “If it’s worth presenting, it’s worth presenting in a way that will be remembered”.
Glen Coventon
Glen has been developing training material since 1991. With a background in graphics and instructional design, he specialises in eLearning and has a passion for front-end web development and App UI.
Glen has worked on projects all over the world and is the Executive Director of Pertrain Pty Limited.
Sandy Sharman
Sandy has a strong background in office administration and enjoys helping people of all ages to achieve their educational goals. With 11 years of education industry experience at a regional Queensland university and a private boarding school, Sandy began her role at Performance Training in 2021.
Her paternal family were coal miners, so Sandy is passionate about mines rescue training and firmly believes the most important thing to come out of a mine is the miner.
With a keen eye for detail and a focus on compliance, Sandy embraces challenges and values every opportunity to connect with trainers and students.

Bee Hapgood
I began my working life as an aircraft technician with the RAAF where I worked on Macchi jets and the F/A-18 Hornets at Williamtown and Tindal. After 12 years and several roles in maintenance, maintenance management and training, I left the air force to continue my career as a trainer. For the past 24 years I have been involved in workplace training and instructional design. I have trained and developed training material for aviation, mining, electricity generation, water and sewerage industries.
I am always learning and enjoy studying and acquiring new knowledge. I can never get enough of going out on site and seeing how equipment operates. I am fascinated by the science and mechanics behind operating equipment and product processing. I love to learn and discover how it all works.
I love to travel and learn about other people and cultures. I have a B.Art with majors in Anthropology, Indonesian language and Asian/Aboriginal studies. I have a Certificate IV in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I have a Diploma of Business, a Diploma of Management and a Diploma of Travel and Tourism.
In addition to my Certificate IV Training and Assessment I have my Standard 11, Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety, confined space supervisor, working at heights, isolate and access plant, operate quad bikes and several other RII units of competency. I enjoy meeting new people and have a passion for workplace safety and all things technical.
Howard Berndt
Howard has almost three decades of experience in Civil Construction with twenty years working in various roles within the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, including Construction Quality Representative, WHS Advisor, Systems Manager and Resource Manager. Additionally, he has more than ten years in the training and development space.
He has achieved a range of qualifications ranging from Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision, Diploma of Civil Construction Management, Diploma of Project Management Adv Diploma of Civil Construction Management, Certificate IV Training and Assessment, Diploma of Training and Assessment, and a Masters in Education and Leadership.
Howard has worked with a range of students and stakeholders in Australia, Papua and New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands to assist individuals with their self-development and personal growth.
Paul Blackburn
Paul Blackburn (AKA. Blacki) has been involved in emergency management, critical incident response, training delivering and safety related work for over 30 years. Paul started off working in, and managing, pubs in Western Sydney and the Northern Territory – which was an excellent learning ground for dynamic risk assessment! Paul then commenced a career in the services, as a solider in the Australian Army, before moving on to spend 10 years with the Northern Territory Police Force. Pursuing his passion for Emergency response services Blaki went on to complete 3 years in the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service.
Throughout his career, Blaki also worked at various open cut and underground mine sites as a qualified shot firer, Emergency mines rescue Member, and Safety manager. In more recent years Paul has been involved in managing some of Australia’s Emergency Response contracts, being INPEX in Darwin and QGC in Queensland.
Blaki is a capable and passionate trainer, with the ability to effectively engage with people from all walks of life. Paul provides entertaining, knowledgeable, and valuable training across a broad range of topics, with a depth of experience. Blaki holds tertiary qualifications in Policing, Business Management, OH&S, Security and Risk Management, along with current TAE qualifications, along with being a qualified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
As both an ICAM and Tap Root Lead Investigator, Blaki is a strong advocate for mental health, and the need to remove the negative stigma associated with it.

Sharron Brennan
Divergent thinker and Vocational Education and Training / Quality Assurance and Governance Officer
With over 10 years’ experience in legal and 15 years in the Mining and vocational education sectors, Sharon is a highly respected industry leader in the design, development, and delivery of pragmatic workforce training solutions.
With a long list of formal qualifications behind her, her knowledge and skills are optimised at Performance Training as Quality Assurance and Governance Officer.
Sharon is passionate about making a real and positive impact on her “students” lives.
Dr Roy Moreby
Roy has 43 years experience with mine ventilation management in the hard rock and coal mining industries of South Africa, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia together with 24 years involved with training and education of the topic.
After graduating as a Mining Engineer from the Camborne School of Mines in 1982 he obtained his PhD in 1987 for simulation of ventilation, heat and radon in Cornish tin mines. He emigrated to Australia with his family in 1989 working firstly as a ventilation engineer at Broken Hill lead zinc mines, where he obtained mine managers certificate in 1991, then moved to Australian underground coal mines in 1994.
Roy was appointed Associate Professor of mining at the University of New South Wales in 2001 where he developed and continues to assist with delivery of the University Of New South Wales Graduate Diploma in Mine Ventilation. Since 2018, he has also developed and delivers vocational based training in mine ventilation to both the coal and hard rock mining sectors.
Brett Chamberlain
Throughout a distinguished 30-year career in business consulting, Brett has been the driving force behind the transformation and success of numerous enterprises.
With a distinguished history in the Australian Army, sought after conference speaker and having owned several highly successful companies, Brett’s brings to Performance Training a practical and reasoned approach to setting strategic goals, and operational plan development.
